Cloud management has been developed for years. Through a cloud controller, an IT team can quickly manage network settings. However, the continuous increase in the number of devices operating in the network puts a strain on IT resources, and the resulting user experience problems have become the biggest difficulty for IT teams. IT teams are often unable to immediately understand the network problems encountered by users, and sometimes even need to conduct field tests or try to reproduce the problems before they can find the cause. Edgecore Networks Upgrades its MLTG-Series to Achieve Greater Deployment Flexibility

Breaking More Deployment Limitations and Getting Better ROI

Edgecore Networks has been devoted to 60GHz innovation. The recent firmware upgrade has empowered the MLTG-CN and MLTG-CN LR with more features. The MLTG-CN and MLTG-CN LR can now function not only in client mode to receive wireless gigabit connectivity, but also in base-station (MLTG-CN) mode to distribute the connections.

Compared with other distribution nodes in the market, the MLTG-CN is more flexible in its alignment angles. Using different mounting brackets, the alignment angles can be adjusted both vertically and horizontally to achieve the best connection signal. For example, in a residential area, to provide connectivity among buildings of different heights and with different distances, you can choose the MLTG-CN as the base station and have the MLTG-CN working in client mode for short-range connections, while using the MLTG-CN LR for long-range connections, building a complete and flexible network for the entire area. Through the flexible deployment options, ISPs can optimize their network architecture, speed network deployment, and further reduce deployment costs to improve the ROI of network construction.

Under the management of the ecCLOUD controller, the MLTG-CN can quickly build links with other client devices, eliminating the tedious process of making manual settings. Through ecCLOUD, the system can automatically detect all nearby client devices in the same channel and generate a MAC list. IT staff then only need to select a specific client device's MAC and the connection is built automatically after applying the setting. In addition, the system automatically detects the connection status. When a disconnection occurs, it will automatically reconnect and send a notification to the IT staff.

In base station mode, the MLTG-CN can concurrently connect up to 15 client devices and deliver blazing-fast Point-to-Multipoint (PtMP) links with a fiber-like multi-gigabit aggregate throughput of up to 2 Gbps. For long-range Point-to-Point (PtP) links, the MLTG-CN LR is the ideal option. The MLTG-CN LR can be paired to rapidly build PtP links of up to 1 km for backhaul or last-mile access, and deliver multi-gigabit throughput of up to 3.6 Gbps.

Edgecore Networks and Taiwan IDB Join Hands to Promote OpenWiFi Certification Accelerating the Development of Open Network in Taiwan

Candela Technologies Carries Out Large-scale Campus Network Testing with Edgecore TIP OpenWiFi Access Points

The Telecom Infra Project's (TIP) OpenWiFi initiative aims to disaggregate the Wi-Fi network software stack and introduce open-source Wi-Fi networking to the world. As a longtime participant of the TIP OpenWiFi community, Candela Technologies is continuously seeking to provide the best possible test solutions to support and enable the community to create high-quality Wi-Fi products. Among others, Edgecore is one of the vendors in the community that designs and manufactures such first class Wi-Fi devices. Edgecore possesses a broad offering of high-end access points that come preinstalled with TIP's OpenWiFi AP software, offering users an open platform for further customization.

Combining Candela Technologies' testing expertise and Edgecore Network's high-spec access point, Candela has rolled out the WE-CAN (Wireless Education Campus Area Network) project, intending to install over a hundred Edgecore EAP101 TIP OpenWiFi access points in various college campuses across India and obtaining OpenWiFi AP performance results from the real world.

One of the successful networking tests was conducted at Gayatri Vidya Parishad College of Engineering for Degree & P.G. Courses (GVPCDPGC). Over 400 students participated in the event and engaged in access point set-up, firmware installation, and network testing etc. A total of nineteen EAP101 APs were deployed in a 27,000 sq ft area (an entire floor of the engineering building). The network was used by over 400 smartphones, close to 100 different phone models, all connected concurrently. As the latest Wi-Fi 6 technology is breaking the gigabit-per-second barrier for Wi-Fi traffic, the EAP101 APs supported over 400 smartphones for video streaming at the same time without any disruption. During the over 2 hours test, all the EAP101 APs were up 100% of the time without any reboots or crashes.

The results from GVPCDPGC not only show the rock-solid stability and reliability of the EAP101 while it is running the OpenWiFi SW stack, but also demonstrate how successful an industry-academia cooperation can be. Based on the huge success of the GVPCDPGC test, Candela and Edgecore Networks have confidence in the upcoming testing at other campuses and believe the EAP101 is the perfect choice for a TIP OpenWiFi access point in similar venues.
